Big Bad D  was born in Detroit Michigan. At the age of 3, his parents moved him to Sumpter Michigan where there were all dirt roads you had to wait for the next car to go around you because there was only one lane. It was a farm town nothing but chicken cows and pigs all over the place. There were fields of corns soybean and wheat. Farmers on their tractors driving up and down the roads. Big D parents owned a supermarket, gas station, BBQ restaurant, cleaners in that town. They had the only store in the area people use to ride their horses and pony's to his parent's store. The name of the store was Nat Barnes Supermarket. As a child, Big D was taught to cook for himself at age 11 because of the family-owned business everyone had to work. His mother didn't have time to cook for him because she was working in the family business night and day, so she taught Big Bad D how to be self-sufficient. Big D was taught to say Yes sir, Yes mam it did not matter the color their skin. Big D learned at a young age the ins and outs of the business. His dad NAT BARNES taught him his first lesson in marketing on a major level. His father had some sausages in a meat counter that was not selling well that week and he said "O.k I know what to do" ( his dad couldn't read or write) so he yelled out loud in the store and in the front of the store to his wife Louise take a dry marker and write on a piece of cardboard Georgia Sausages ( he bought the sausages at the wholesale house in Detroit Michigan 45 min away from the store) He took two pieces of wire and taped it to the cardboard  saying Georgia sausages and stuck it in sausages

meat cooler and opened the next morning and said I just got back from Georgia and you got to get some

of these Georgia sausages, they are unbelievable! These were the same sausages from last week. He sold out in One day. That's when Big D understood the art of marketing. You have to have a gimmick even though he confronted his father saying, "Dad, you told a lie". His dad use to dress in an unusual coat that had 100 patches on it and small slithering cuts all over it and everyone loved it. That's when Big Bad D knew he wanted dress different.

       Now all about his Mother Louise. One of the things Big Bad D learned from his mother is how to survive in adverse conditions even though they didn't have to. She was always pinching pennies. For instance, when mold was growing on a stick of butter she use to cut it off and cook with. We had fish that was on the ice with the head and scales ungutted and after five days the fish belly would start to rot. She would cut the belly off and we would eat the rest of the fish. Nothing got thrown away in the store including vegetables and any perishable goods, we ate it all. Unfortunately, Big Bad D still practices those habits today. WOWSER!!! One more thing that happened that changed Big Bad D life forever, so many more but no time to tell them. His parents' supermarket burned to the ground one night, only after the third time. Big Bad D had a fetish with matches the first time he burned the store down he was playing in his parent's attic with Easter grass and a box of matches. He started out with two strands of Easter grass and said to himself" that burned too quick" so he grabbed a handful and burned that and said wow that was nice. But it burned too fast, so he said to himself I know what I will do. l will set the whole basket on fire and then he went for it. He struck the match and threw it in like someone had  threw gasoline on it. Then he realized maybe I shouldn't have done that. There was an attic of sewing material, his mother was a seamstress all of her clothes and his father's clothes. The attic was congested, So don't I have to put the fire out! what should I do? I have to put the fire out if I don't I will get a w hooping. Upstairs was the living quarters 3 bedroom house, downstairs was the store. He was always told not to play with matches. BIG D ran out the attic frantically into his parents bedroom down the stairs in to the living room into the kitchen and got a glass of water ran back out of the kitchen into the living room water falling out the glass, up the stairs into the bedroom into the attic that was totally  engulfed in flames, through the glass of water and said "I think I'm in trouble" I guess you know what happened after that the whole living quarters and stored burned to the ground. After the store burned down to the ground BiG D father collected the insurance money and said we are not staying at a hotel so it was only one option, right next to the store it was only one building standing and it was a chicken coop full of chickens, and it was winter time  After they put the chickens out. What my father did was gather all the chickens and butchered them and put them in an outside cooler that they took from his father store . They cleaned the chicken manure out. The coop half cement half dirt floor and we moved in and lived there a 1yr and a half while the new store was being built. Big Bad d use to catch the school bus right outside the chicken coop every morning for all his friends to see. What he learned from that he can live under any conditions and it helped him to understand how to live under diverse conditions and never look down on people who have less than what u have. Mind you his parents were well off they did not have to do it. Now you understand Big D he still practices these principles today.

       How Big D got introduced to the hair care industry. Fast forward Big d graduated from  Airport High school with a D plus average went to junior college for a semester studying art and became very frustrated because he could outdraw his teachers. He decided to get a job at McDonald's flipping burgers. Big D use to flip 6 hamburgers on a spatula on a hot greasy grill,  it was 30 burgers going at once. We won the most sold hamburgers in that city that month. At the end of 2 weeks, he got his check for 140.00 after taxes and quit. After that, he went to work for Ford motor company worked 9 yrs and got laid off. He got a $500 T.R.A check and was told you won't be hired back. So Big D didn't want to work at his parent supermarket because his mother would always holler and scream at him. So he didn't know what he wanted to do he was married at the time. His wife at the time said she wanted to do hair. Big d use to do barbering over his parent's supermarket. He used to barber all the guy's hair in the community. So his wife said let's go to beauty school to sign up and so they went.S he talked to the owner of the school and asked did they teach barbering and he said yes. Afterward Big D decided to take his severance pay and put it towards school. His wife decided not to go.so Big D started school only to find out they didn't teach barbering. The owner lied to him. The school was called Alexandria beauty college in Ann harbor  Michigan. By that time Big D was a huge muscle-bound bodybuilder. So at that time he didn't  want to be a stylist he thought that everyone would think he was shaky. Reluctantly he went forward. He learned the skills of doing women hair and not barbering and became very good at it. At that time there was major black hair shows all over the country. Big D use to read about all the top hair designers in the top hair magazines all over the world. He decided to attend a major trade show in Chicago at the Hyatt Regency called the Midwest Beauty Show. It was a combination of the black and white stylist from all over the world.50,000. Big D use to always pose as a professional football player relating back to his father Georgia sausages. His friend was Shaun Green a fellow hair stylist he was a bodybuilder too not as big as big D. When big D use to walk around the arena he used to always talk about the game he had last night. That particular day he was talking about a game the Chicago Bears had with his friend at the trade show. A stylist overheard him talking and thought he was a bears player and approached him and asked him did he play for the bears and Big D said, "I  don't want to talk about it". So people began to say I told you... I told u and then the autographs started. After walking 10 to 15 mins later a guy by the name of Michael Santini approached him and asked him was he a stylish and Big D says yes so he asked for Big D number and Big D told him no and asked for his number. A year went by and Big D never called. Big D was divorced by then and had a girlfriend that said they are giving away a Rolls Royce for the best hairstyle in NY called the beauty classic. At that time Big D had never been on an airplane. He only rode horses and fed cows and chickens. So he told her no I'm never getting in an airplane because I am afraid. She finally convinced him to get on the plane and go to the competition he bought his ticket and they arrived at the hotel.

       It was three of them himself Joyce his girlfriend and best friend Shaun Joyce had on  a conservative blazer and skirt Shaun his best friend had on a two-piece suit. Big D wore a pair of blue jean slacks with the legs busting out a t-shirt with a while cut in the front and sleeves cut into small slithers like his father's coat. They both said what are you doing? You look crazy. You're not going to be walking with us looking like that. Then Big D told them I tell you what I'm going to walk to the right and you can go to the left and I guarantee you something is big is going to happen by the time we meet back up. So they went downstairs and went there separate ways. So Big D ran into the same guy mike Santini  same guy mike Santini who asked

for his phone number at the trade show a year ago. Big D was so surprised and so was he. While all that was going on a Rolls Royce was turning circles at the booth. Big D said to himself this is the same guy he turned down a year ago who was associated with giving away this Rolls Royce for the hair competition. Mike Santini points to the owner this is the guy I was telling you about so the owner start saying come, here come here and it was a big crowd. The owner of the Rolls Royce competition starts saying take your shirt off. Big D said ,"No and the owner said do you want to be in jet  magazine. Big D says yes and took his shirt off and the crowd went wild. The photographer which was one of his workers and not  from jet just wanted to get Big D shirt off. So the owner  Chappy Cannon asked Big D where was he from he said Detroit. The owner said we have a division n Detroit and you can take your shirt off there for the shows too. Big D said I'm not a big piece of meat I am a licensed cosmetologist. Chappy says What!! Your lying he did not believe it. Get up on that stage and do that girls hair.By that time Big D girl and his best friend Shaun had turned the corner and Big D was on stage and doing the models hair and chappy the owner of the rolls Royce competition start hollering and screaming said Big D you are going all over the world. Big D was hired that day. Big D worked for the company for 9 yrs learning chemical formulation from the chemist. Big D was a stylist and a body guard for Mr.Cannon owner of Donnie super curl. The company dissolved after 9 yrs and Big D started his own hair care product company.
